Spring Has Arrived!

Published by Earendil M. Spindelilus R.N.D., M.H., C.R. in Herbal · 22/3/2015 05:09:58

Spring has arrived and with it comes the traditional time for cleaning the body, mind and this year the clinic. For the clinic it includes our new website and added clinic options!

But with Spring also comes a wonderful opportunity to cleanse our body and mind. One of our favorite ways to do this is with the 3 day cleanse. As most of our patients know, this is mainly a juice cleanse, allowing the body a time to rest from processed foods and a chance to heal. We simply drink a glass of prune juice in the morning along with a tablespoon of olive for bile duct lubrication. The rest of the day involves drinking a a particular juice alternating with water. We usually suggest either carrot, unrefined apple juice or dark grape juice. Carrot juice is great for those looking for a liver cleanse. Apple juice is wonderful for safely dissolving kidney and gall stones and dark grape is excellent for a good general cleanse. As always please make sure if you do not juice it yourself that they are organic.

To continue the cleanse we also recommend formulas such as the Lower Bowel and the Liver and Gallbladder. They cleanse the entire digestive tract and help to get it back in sync with the rest of the body.

With the good weather also comes an opportunity for getting some sunshine and exercise. Simply going outside for fifteen minutes a day wearing short sleeves and shorts with no hat gets you all the vitamin D a day you will need. Take a walk and let the lungs fill in deeply with the fresh air. As a nurse told us some years back, if you will breath deeply each day you will easily avoid illnesses such as pneumonia.

But alas, with the Spring and our sojourns out into nature also brings such aliments as poison ivy, oak and insect stings and bites. Please do not hesitate to drop by the clinic as we have a wonderful formula that you can apply to the rash which has had great success in stopping it in it's tracks. We also have some soothing salves for those stings and bites. If you are allergic consider getting some Stinging Nettle Tincture which works as an Anti-Histamine, something of the herbal sister to Benadryl, but without the sleepy side effects.

Have a safe and happy Spring!
